The United Kingdom was the first host of Speed Skating Men's 15KM competition on February 2nd, 1763. In 1889, the World Championship was first held in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Men's and women's speed skating were debuted on the Winter Olympic programme respectively in 1924 and 1960. With 14 events in total, speed skating is the largest sport (in terms of events) at Beijing 2022. Unlike in speed skating, competitors in short track speed skating race against one another - not the clock. As a result, short track races are full of strategy, bravery, skill and high-intensity excitement. The competition will see 9 events in total.
